Circus Lupus

Circus Lupus
Post-hardcore band formed in 1990 at the University of Wisconsin in Madison, WI, USA by Chris Thomson (vocals), Chris Hamley (guitar), Reg Shrader (bass), and Arika Casebolt (drums). The band's sound was sometimes called "slack-core" and was charactarized by their often odd-time signature music and Thomson's string-of-consciousness lyrics (the lyric sheet for their second album, "Solid Brass" often contains the words "ad lib"). After releasing a 7" single, the band relocated to Thomson's native Washington DC and parted ways with Shrader, replacing him with Seth Lorinczi. Circus Lupus recorded 2 full-lengths and single for Dischord Records as well as a split 7" with Trenchmouth. They split in 1993, with Thomson moving on to Las Mordidas and the rest of the group forming Antimony. Both groups proved to be short-lived. Thomson and Hamley later re-teamed in Monorchid. In the mid 1990s, Reg Shrader resurfaced as guitarist for Chicago's Seam.
