Petre Elinescu
b. 14 August 1869, Izvoru Bârzii, Mehedinți – d. 26 June 1947, Bucharest
Composer, flute player and University professor. He was a flutist in the Orchestras of the Italian Opera, the Philharmonic and the Romanian Opera in Bucharest, a flute teacher at the Conservatory in Iasi and the Conservatory in Bucharest. He has performed chamber music recitals and concerts with the quartets "Carmen Sylva" and "C.C. Nottara ". He was a founding member of the Society of Romanian Composers, with the position of censor and the chairman of the arbitration commission, next to the Romanian Union of Instrumental Artists. He collected and processed folklore and brass music, made recordings at Columbia and Grammophone Records. He composed symphonic music: Romanian pastoral scene, Memories of Olt; chamber music: An idyll for flute and piano, Romanian Elegia, Nedee; choral music and didactic works
