Herbert Blomstedt
Swedish-American conductor, born 11 July 1927 in Springfield, Massachusetts, USA and raised in Sweden.
He has been Music Director or Principal Conductor of the Norrköping Symphony Orchestra (1954–62), Oslo Filharmoniske Orkester (1962–68), Danmarks Radios Symfoniorkester (1967–77), Sveriges Radios Symfoniorkester, (1977–82), Staatskapelle Dresden (1975–85), San Francisco Symphony (1985–95), NDR Sinfonieorchester (1996–98) and Gewandhausorchester Leipzig (1998–2005).
